Alabama also has its share of ghosts. The Tutwiler Hotel is famed for spirit haunting, one of the main attractions of the establishment.
The Haunting Story Behind the Tutwiler Hotel
There were stories that this hotel is haunted by Colonel Tutweiler himself. People who have been here and the staff themselves mention that the Colonel does not just roam around its hallways. In fact, a few years ago, they had a bartender got into trouble because he left all the lights and stoves of their onsite restaurant on after closing time. The bartender insisted that he turned off everything before he left the restaurant. However, every time he went back to the kitchen and the rooms, it was all turned on again.
He went home after he gave up turning it off over and over again. The incident went on and was repeated for a whole week. By the end of the week, the manager noticed that someone cooked a large meal and took out a bottle of wine the night before. Since then, the staff of the restaurant and hotel would say before leaving the hotel, "Good night Colonel, please turn the lights and stove off, and don't make a mess." No problem came up again after that.
There are still rumors about spirits roaming in the hotel but it is not like before. This is ever since the renovation of the hotel last 2007. Many believe that renovations chase away old spirits because they seem to have resided in each fabric of the building.
The New Tutwiler Hotel
